Engineering Career Day, 2008 Information
The Engineering Career Day Committee will be sponsoring the 40th annual Engineering Career day on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. The program is scheduled to be held at the Rutgers College of Engineering in Piscataway, New Jersey.

What is Engineering Career Day?
Engineering Career Day is organized by the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation as a public service to high school juniors to introduce them to career opportunities available in engineering. The program is supported through the participation of local engineering enterprises (companies and governmental agencies) that employ engineers, as well as local engineering colleges and universities.
Participating students attend a general session and then visit classrooms where practicing engineers present day-to-day activities and opportunities of an engineering career. The participating engineering enterprises are each assigned a classroom to make their presentations. These are scheduled for 20 minute segments and allow for questions by students. The students rotate through a pre-assigned schedule of four engineering presentations and one period to visit a room in which the participating colleges have displays. Participating engineering enterprises are encouraged to have one or two presenters who can describe the type of work they do and why they enjoy their engineering career. Audio-visual aids and demonstrations are recommended to help foster the students’ interest.
In addition to attending the classroom presentations, the students will have the opportunity to visit an exhibit area where representatives from local engineering colleges and universities will be available to provide information on obtaining an engineering degree. Typically, about 400 New Jersey High School Juniors, 10 companies, and 12 colleges participate in the program.
