Responsibilities are as follows:
- Developing automated packaging equipment, engineering technology and expertise required to achieve the strategic business objectives for the Category worldwide initiatives.
- Managing the technical and engineering aspects for the commercialization of new packaging as it relates to: new products, alternative materials, and cost related initiatives.
- Development of packaging equipment standards and specifications to implemented on a Global basis.
- Prepares engineering estimates, savings analysis, Manufacturing Work Order and project justifications for capital projects.
- Responsible for aspects of project management: project planning, capital expenditure management, and technology transfer associated with capital projects.
- Responsible for the design, specification, development, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and improvement of automatic machinery.
- Defines and/or optimizes equipment layouts & machinery configurations
- Ensures new product bundles achieve target cost and works to identify ongoing margin improvement opportunities
- Identifies opportunities for product, material, and package standardization and simplification
- Documents and communicates the technical transfer bundle to the plant floor for effective implementation
- Ensures the feasibility and robustness of packaging, product, and process designs
- Ensures products are commercialized in accordance with Quality, Microbiology, EOHS, Product Safety and Regulatory standards
- Engages stakeholders in design decisions to ensure projects satisfy quality, cost, service and safety criteria
- Drives standardization and simplification initiatives on new and existing packaging materials to reduce cycle times and total supply chain costs.
- Evaluates contract manufacturers' and suppliers' capabilities and works with them to deliver products that meet CPG –Global manufacturing standards.
- Mentors and develops new engineers and Plant personnel in own area of expertise
- Provide engineering solution to resolve manufacturing issues and in-efficiencies.
QUALIFACTIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- At least 8 Years of Experience of working with automated packaging machinery
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- English proficiency
- Practical and manufacturing knowledge of laminated tube processing.
- Participation and leadership in a major category product commercialization initiative.
- Knowledge of the Capital budgeting process
- Working knowledge of EOHS and Quality standards
- Prior experience managing people or mentoring individuals
- Experience in preparing a business rational and justification for a major initiative
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
